Description:
Dominating the Northumberland coastline, south of Lindisfarne, Bamburgh Castle is the home of the Armstrong family. Open to the public are the King�s Hall, the Cross hall, reception rooms, the Bakehouse as well as the Armoury and the Dungeon. Restored many times, the original castle dates from Anglo-Saxon times. At present, the Bamburgh Research Project is excavating near to the castle, investigating the story of the area through the last 3000 years.

How to get there:
By car: Turn off the A1 about 13 miles south of Berwick-upon-Tweed, just south of Belford and travel along the B1342 about 5 miles to Bamburgh Village. Castle just beyond the Village � visible for miles.
By public transport:
Regular bus service from Berwick-upon-Tweed to the village.

Seasonal opening details (2009):
1st March until 1st November inclusive.

Daily opening 10am to 5 pm (last entry 4pm.)

Car park � opens at 10.30am.
Public Tours arranged for groups of 12 or more.

Please note: Groups have to comprise 12 or more people to qualify for the group discount shown in the table below. There is an optional guiding service for groups, please pre-arrange for this service if required.

Disabled Access
There is only limited wheelchair access, the person in the wheelchair will only see the first 5 rooms, after that there are stairs and narrow passages. There is some limited disabled parking near the castle entrance and we have 2 wheelchair friendly toilets. Neither the tearooms nor the gift shop are accessible, having said that we get many wheelchair visitors, we have an album to show the inaccessible rooms and we make no charge for those in wheelchairs.
