Description: Find out how gas was made from coal in the only preserved gasworks in Scotland. Built in 1839, Biggar Gas Works remains just as it was when it closed in 1973 following the arrival of North Sea gas.

By car: On the A7202 road from Edinburgh to Lanark (via A 73) and South. Easily accessible also from the M74 Glasgow to Carlisle motorway.
By public transport: Regular public transport from Peebles and Lanark.
